IUSDP - Railway control, navigation and safety increasing system with a automatic train control function

Railway control, navigation and safety increasing system IUSDP was developed by GRANIT-VT by the order of Ministry of Railways and intended for high speed train "SOKOL", which planned to be used on a high-speed railway "Moscow - St.Petersburg".

 

  Problems, solving by IUSDP system

Finding train position in railway coordinates system (km, picket, displacement in picket) without additional railway devices.

Determination of actual train speed and covered distance by means of combining information from three-axis accelerometers, wheel angular speed sensors and satellite receiver of GLONASS/NAVSTAR systems.

Measurement of train acceleration/braking.

Determination of traffic light color by rail circuit signals (ALS).

Input of the trip task with the help of the portable carrier of the information.

Record of locomotive status parameters and movement characteristics in the nonvolatile flash-memory.

Ensuring of a safe train driving in a manual and automatic control modes for the account: of:

storage in an electronic route map of all constant and temporary speed restrictions;

control of fulfillment by engine-driver of high-speed restrictions and blocking of his incorrect actions at attempt of infringement of a train driving mode;

providing an engine-driver with the information, which helps him in more effective train driving.

  IUSDP system structure

Aboard the train two sets of IUSDP system are installed - in the head and tail car correspondingly.

IUSDP is a two-channel system with the information interchange between cyclically doing tasks of each channel. To ensure two-channel configuration of the system in case of failure of one of the channels, that channel would be informationally replaced by the correspondent channel of the head/tail car.

IUSDP System structure

 

In the IUSDP system following sensors are used:

reception coils of rail circuit signals (ALS);

wheel angular speed sensors;

three-axis accelerometers;

satellite receivers of GLONASS/NAVSTAR systems.

Interaction of IUSDP system with the equipment of a train "SOKOL", and also interaction of the equipment of head and tail cars are carried out through MIL-1553 channel.

The engine-driver's information terminal is carried out as a stationary construction. The operative information, necessary for train driving, is displayed on the color luminescent display.

Engine-driver is provided with the information:

about a train position in railway coordinates system (km, picket) in every moment and a train speed (±0,5 km/h);

about the nearest on the route speed restrictions (three nearest restrictions) and a recommended braking mode;

about a vertical profile of the route for 1 km back and 0.5 km ahead from the train (per mil).

IUSDP system is constructed on the base of serially produced and specialized electronic modules, developed by GRANIT-VT. The system equipment carried out in two variants: in "ARINC600"  and in "Eurocard-3U" construction.
